Seeking Information on JOHN RICH ~1919 - Bridgwater, Somerset

John Rich born ~1919 - Bridgwater, Somerset Area

We are seeking any information regarding JOHN RICH, who is said to have come from BRIDGWATER, SOMERSET. It is possible that 'John' may not have been his birth-name but rather a middle or nickname.

John served in India with the 114 Brigade, 1st Battalion Somerset Light Infantry and was stationed in Peshawar (now Pakistan) on the boarder of Afghanistan. He entered the war in Burma in 1944 and fought in the Arakan and Kohima and on his return to England in 1945 he was billeted in Clacton, Essex. He is said to have been 26 years old in 1945 which places his year of birth to around 1919. He is believed to have been a regular soldier and not a conscript.

We do not know John Rich's army number and due to data protection this avenue of research is not an option at this time. John Rich would be about 95 today so therefore may no longer be with us but may have surviving family. It is believed that John had a sister or sisters.

In 1945 John was said to have had fair hair, slim build, approximately 5'7", blue eyes and nice teeth, fair but tanned skin and a west country accent.
